From the International Professional Education Committee: One of the hallmarks of our association is our commitment to continuing education. When our members earn an IRWA credential, they must continue to be educated on the innovations and developments occurring in the profession, which is why our credentials require our members to recertify every five years. We know that personal and professional responsibilities can sometimes complicate meeting that deadline; therefore, the IPEC Credentialing Subcommittee developed a Recertification Extension Policy that was recently approved by the International Governing Council (IGC).
This policy ensures that all members are treated equitably through the provision of a process that focuses on expedience and transparency. If a member knows they will need a short extension (six months or less) to complete their SR/WA recertification requirements, they can directly contact the IRWA’s Credentialing Manager Francis Vicente at firstname.lastname@example.org). If a member needs a long extension (more than six months), they will need to obtain approval from the IPEC Credentialing Subcommittee. You are strongly encouraged to read the policy (LINK) and reach out to your local chapter’s PDC Chair with any questions.
